OFFICE POLICIES

At Calm and Centered Counseling, we believe that clear expectations support meaningful therapeutic work. The policies below outline how we create a steady supportive environment for your care:

Scheduling & Cancellations

Your appointment time is reserved just for you.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice.

  • Late cancellations or missed appointments incur a $125 fee.

  • Frequent cancellations may lead to a conversation about readiness for therapy.

  • If no sessions are scheduled for three consecutive weeks, and no arrangements have been made, we may consider the therapeutic relationship discontinued.

Our goal is to maintain a rhythm that supports your progress and well‑being.

Fees & Payment

We accept cash, check, and credit/debit cards.

If you are using insurance, please note that insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis for reimbursement. We will discuss this together during your session so you feel informed and empowered.

Telehealth Sessions

We offer secure telehealth sessions for clients located in Connecticut, Maine and Florida at the time of the appointment.
A private, quiet space and a stable internet connection help ensure a smooth and supportive experience.

Communication & Boundaries

To protect your privacy and maintain a therapeutic environment:

  • Phone is the preferred way to reach us for scheduling or questions.

  • Email is for administrative communication only and is not monitored for urgent needs.

  • We do not use text messaging for clinical communication.

  • We do not communicate through social media.

If you are in crisis or need immediate support, please call 988 or 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.

Confidentiality

Your privacy matters deeply.
What you share in therapy is confidential, with a few exceptions required by law, including:

  • Concerns about child or vulnerable adult abuse

  • Risk of harm to yourself or others

  • Court orders or legal requirements

Whenever possible, we will discuss these situations with you directly and compassionately.

Court Involvement

Our practice does not participate in court proceedings.
If you choose to involve your clinician in legal matters, additional fees and requirements apply as outlined in our consent forms.

Records Requests

If you need copies of your records, please submit a written request.
A fee may apply, and preparation time is typically up to two weeks.

Insurance & Authorization

Insurance companies may request information about your diagnosis or treatment to authorize services.
We will review this with you as needed so you feel informed and supported.
